What’s your favorite dark chocolate? Dark Chocolate’s been seen as a much “Heart Healthier” choice than light or milk chocolates.  I love dark chocolates. I’m hoping in my travels I’ll get my chance to try different dark chocolates from around the world. Why Heart Healthy? Dark chocolate contains flavonoids. What are Flavonoids? Flavonoids by definition help protect plants by … [Read more...]

Today, I Became an “Infusiast”

The National Multiple Sclerosis, Society Colorado / Wyoming Chapter, held their Annual Walk for MS at the Copper Mountain Ski Resort in Colorado. Walkers chose an amazing 2, 5 or 10-mile hike through this breathtaking ski resort. I was inspired by several MS survivors who in spite of the physical challenges that MS has bought upon them, hiked a rocky, sloping, wooded path that challenged … [Read more...]

Not so Fast Colorado!

I submitted this to the Denver Post as a "Letter to the Editor". Recently, a study ranked Colorado as the least obese state with 19.8% of adults considered obese. Don’t celebrate just yet. Just 16 years ago a rate of 19.8% would have ranked Colorado as the worst or most obese state.  With Colorado’s childhood obesity rate at 14.2%, and growing there are 22 states with lower childhood … [Read more...]

I’ve just relocated to Denver Colorado.  The “Mile High” City as its known.  An interesting and beautiful city I must say.  It seems everywhere I go I see walking paths and parks.  Recreation seems to abound here.  Everyone I speak to around the country just loves Denver.  I’ve only heard positive things about this great city. Someone has taken a special place in my Heart and Soul … [Read more...]

Second Chance?

IMAG0361

This is the plate from my old 1996 Harley.  Maybe the plate I picked out 10 years earlier meant something for the future. Today we had the kick-off party for the Las Vegas Heart Walk.  It was a great event.  I met other survivors and heard many stories on getting a Second Chance. What 2nd Chance did you get? “For me, after a Heart Attack, it was another shot at this thing called life” … [Read more...]

Where Is It, and How Long Will It Take You To Get It?

Screen shot 2011-06-17 at 10.49.39 AM

I was talking with one of my best friends who coaches high school women’s lacrosse in a lacrosse league. The subject of AED (Automated External Defibrillators) came up and I asked him if one was on the sidelines at every practice and game.  He said that one was in the building and not on the sidelines. I asked him if everyone knew where it was and how long would it take to get it if it … [Read more...]
