I ask parents to raise their hands if they want their kids to be Lawyers, Doctors, Nurses, Teachers, Scientists, Senior Managers, CEO’s, etc….
They ALL raise their hands.
Then I ask them if it was all worth it if their child has a Heart Attack at 45 years old?
My Point-
Parents need to get involved and demand that funding continue in ALL health and physical education programs.
For the most part, each school district dictates its own curriculum. Physical education should be mandatory through grades 12 and required every semester a student is in school. – Keith
“Studies have concluded that listening to music while working out can increase the intensity level and duration of your workout.
That “sounds” good, right?
Beat, Tempo, Rhythm, are natural stimulants for our brain. Music provides all of these.
I know that when I’m at home on the treadmill — alone?, and start to sing out loud my heart rate increases. It’s like talking when you’re running. It provides some extra interval training for me.
IPods, Mp3, players, and other micro sound systems have made it easier than ever and less cumbersome to listen to our favorite tunes at the gym.
Music can also take away some of the boredom when working out. We all need extra motivation once in a while. Music is a great place to start.
What’s your favorite song that keeps you moving and makes your workout seem to fly by?” – Keith
10 minutes of exercise for everyone. When I work out, I’ll do an extra 10 minutes thinking of everyone that needs a little push and encouragement to get moving. Knowing that I’ll do 10 minutes thinking of you, will you match it and do 10 minutes thinking of yourself? Remember, we all started somewhere. – Keith
5 turns into 10. 15 into 20. For many of us, the hardest part about exercising is just getting started. When I exercise it seems if I commit to 30 minutes of cardio it turns into 45-60 minutes. When I started exercising regularly, a commitment of 5 minutes turned to 10 then to 20 and so on. So just commit to 5 minutes of exercise or activity and watch it grow. So “take 5” and get healthier. Your heart will thank you. – Keith
